About Luke

Luke Rankin understands the value of genuine public service. Even as a young man he was active in the community, working hard as a volunteer to improve Horry County.

Highly-regarded for his dedication to improving the area’s quality of life, his neighbors urged Luke to seek the local State Senate seat. He has served with distinction and earned a reputation for fighting for the taxpayers.

Luke Rankin was born April 9, 1962 in Horry County, South Carolina. Luke is the youngest son of Ogden A. and Dorothy S. Rankin. He attended public school and graduated from Conway High School in 1980. Luke remained in his home state for college, attending the University of South Carolina. In 1984 Luke graduated with honors and returned to the university to begin law school in the fall of that same year.

Luke graduated from USC Law School in 1987 and became a member of the South Carolina Bar Association.

After finishing law school, Luke returned to Horry County and worked for the law firm of Hearn, Brittain & Martin. In 1991, he joined with his father to form Rankin & Rankin, P.A.
